This course will provide insight into using IEC-61850 GOOSE protocol for Direct Transfer Trip (DTT) of Distributed Energy Resources (DER) utilizing packet based networks. With the obsolescence of audio tone leased lines and legacy digital circuits it is becoming necessary to utilize current generation communications methods including packet based methods. Provide practical real world examples including communications methods, benefits, disadvantages and lessons learned.
